Inspiration: Unique Bathroom Tile Ideas for Your Renovation Project

The days of playing it safe with bathroom decor are in the past. Your bathroom is just as important as any other room in your house. It should be a space you are truly proud of, that will put you in a good mood at the start of each day. If you’re thinking of redecorating your bathroom, then now is the perfect time to embrace bold colours and try some new, exciting designs! Today I’m going to be sharing some of my favourite bathroom tile ideas from around the web. Hopefully some of these unique bathroom designs will inspire you to take a leap of faith and create the bathroom of your dreams.

Let’s take a look…

Blue Glass Tiles

Glass tiles look incredible in a bathroom. These gorgeous glacier blue glass bathroom wall tiles by Mandarin Stone are just the right shade of blue (some shades of blue can make a bathroom feel small and dark). I’m loving the tile pattern here: This ‘Stack’ bond tile formation has recently become more popular for Brick shaped tiles used both horizontally and vertically, and it works really well in modern bathrooms giving you a grid of perfect clean lines.

Shower Accent Walls

This shower accent wall features another beautiful glass tile, but this time in Yellow! Using an accent colour in a small area like the shower has a big impact on the design of the room, whilst being budget friendly if you choose to use cheaper tiles or paint in the rest of the room.

Patterned Bathroom Tiles on a Feature Wall

Too much pattern can make your eyes hurt, so if you’re choosing a bold pattern then make it count by creating a feature wall. As with the image above, this can enable you to create a unique bathroom design on a small budget, as you won’t need to tile the whole bathroom.

Diamond Shaped Bathroom Tiles

If you’re looking for something more unusual, then you will love these pink diamond shaped tiles by Domus, from their new Terracotta collection. They have a wide range of colours and patterns available in this collection- I’m considering using them in my kitchen renovation for the backsplash!

Terrazzo Bathroom Tiles

The Terrazzo trend has really grown over the past few years, and this stylish trend remains hugely popular in 2020. It works particularly well in bathrooms, so embrace those art deco vibes and add some texture to your design with this unique material.

Square Tiles

Bigger than typical mosaic tile designs, but smaller than most traditional square tiles, these pink square tiles in Rebecca Judd’s Main Ensuite are the perfect backdrop for these ‘his ‘n’ hers’ sinks. The grid created by the bright white grouting between the pink tiles contrasts beautifully with the natural pattern of the marble wall behind. I LOVE this design!

Herringbone Tile Pattern

Want to go for a more traditional look? Using brick shaped tiles in a herringbone pattern/bond can work really well in traditional bathrooms. I love this timeless Piastrella Mix Rose wall tile from Tile Mountain, with it’s textured glossy finish, it’s so pretty, perfect for a feminine bathroom.

Square Tiles

Okay okay… square tiles might seem boring at first, but used in the right way they can still have a huge impact! This bathroom design features square tiles (Vernice Springs from Walls and Floors) in a diamond layout on the bottom half of the wall, with pink paint on the top half of the wall. On its own this might seem like a fairly ‘blah’ design, but the use of strong black lines here makes each element of the space stand out in its own right, effortlessly creating a striking design.
