Pink and Green are two of my absolute favourite colours. In fact, the living room in my old house was painted in Farrow and Ball’s Setting plaster, and it made the space feel wonderfully cosy and welcoming! Today, I’m going to be sharing some of my favourite pink and green living room ideas.
Why pink and green specifically, you ask?
Well, green is pink’s complementary colour (opposites on the colour wheel), which is why the two work so beautifully together. A pink and green living room will feel warm, yet energised!
I hope you enjoy these ideas!

Tips for Choosing a Pink and Green Colour Scheme for Your Living Room
Pink is undoubtebly one of the best colours to paint a living room, and combining the vibrancy of green with the softness and warmth of pink is where the magic really happens. Here are some tips to help you develop this colour palette for your space:
1. Choose a Base Color
Decide which color will dominate: Start with either pink or green as the main color for large surfaces like walls or a sofa.
- Soft pink walls create a warm, neutral backdrop that works well with pops of green.
- Green as a base (e.g., a green sofa or curtains) feels fresh and natural.
2. Balance the Shades
- Light and airy tones: Use blush pinks and sage or mint greens for a serene, elegant look.
- Bold and dramatic tones: Try hot pink or fuchsia paired with deep emerald or forest green for a glamorous vibe.
- Avoid overloading with one tone—vary shades to create visual interest.
3. Add a Neutral Anchor
Introduce neutrals like white, cream, or beige to break up the intensity of pink and green and keep the space feeling light and balanced. For example; A white coffee table, cream curtains, or natural wood floors.
4. Play with Textures
Use a variety of textures to add depth and interest:
- Velvet or linen upholstery in pink or green.
- Natural materials like rattan or jute for rugs or furniture.
- Metallics (gold or brass) for decor accents like lamps, mirrors, or tables to elevate the look.
5. Patterns and Prints
Add patterns to tie the colours together, such as:
- Floral or botanical prints that incorporate both pink and green.
- Geometric or abstract designs for a modern touch.
- Striped or checkered fabrics for a subtle hint of colour coordination.
6. Use Accent Pieces
Incorporate the secondary color through accessories:
- Pink or green throw pillows, blankets, or artwork.
- Plants or pink floral arrangements to naturally incorporate green and pink tones.
- Green glass vases, pink ceramics, or books with covers in the colour scheme.
7. Experiment with Lighting
- Choose warm lighting to enhance the softness of pink tones.
- Opt for fixtures in gold, brass, or matte black to complement the colours.
- If bold, consider green or pink glass lampshades for added character.
8. Consider Proportions
Follow the 60-30-10 rule:
60% base color (walls, sofa).
30% secondary color (curtains, chairs). (check out these curtains for green walls!)
10% accent color (decor pieces).
9. Test Before You Commit
Use swatches or samples for paint, fabric, and accessories to see how the colours work together in different lighting. Arrange your chosen items in the space temporarily before fully committing to ensure balance.
And Finally…
Incorporate personal touches like family photos, heirlooms, or unique finds that blend into the pink and green scheme. Don’t be afraid to experiment and adjust until it feels uniquely you!
