Autumn Colour Scheme Ideas for The Bedroom

As the leaves start to change colour and the days get shorter, it can only mean one thing: Autumn is on its way. This is a great time of year to update your home decor with some seasonal touches, and what better place to start than your bedroom? Today, I’m sharing some of my favourite autumn colour scheme ideas to inspire you for your own space.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to spend hundreds redecorating your entire space; there are plenty of ways to create a cosy Autumnal atmosphere in your bedroom without breaking the bank!

What are Autumn Colours?

When it comes to creating an autumn colour scheme in your bedroom, you’ll want to use colours that reflect the natural hues of the season. The primary Autumn colours are:

  • Orange
  • Brown
  • Ochre/Gold
  • Yellow
  • Dark Green
  • Navy Blue (for contrasting accents)

Together, these colours will help to create a cosy and inviting space that’s perfect for snuggling up in as the weather gets cooler.

Autumn Colour Scheme Ideas

Here are some of my favourite autumn colour palettes. These aren’t limited to the bedroom, so feel free to use them anywhere in your home as the Autumn season approaches.

A Neutral Autumn Colour Palette

This is a classic neutral autumn colour scheme that is reminiscent of a misty morning walk in the autumn with a flask of tea. You can use different shades of orange, from rich terracotta to light apricot, paired with plenty of neutrals like light grey, brown, and beige, to create an inviting and relaxed space.

Burnt Umber, Green, and Gold

Burnt Umber is another great choice for an autumn colour scheme. It’s perfect for creating a cosy and welcoming space, and it can also be paired with other colours to create different looks. For example, Burnt umber and ochre or gold make a beautiful combination that’s perfect for a cosy bedroom.

Yellow and Grey

Yellow is a cheerful colour that’s perfect for adding a touch of sunshine to your autumn bedroom. It also pairs well with grey, which is a popular choice for bedrooms due to its neutrality. This colour scheme is perfect for creating a relaxing and calming space.

Red, Brown, and Creme

Red is a great choice for an autumn colour scheme as it evokes the colours of leaves changing on the trees. It also pairs well with brown, which is a natural and earthy colour. Add plenty of creme and white for contrast. This colour scheme is ideal if you want to recreate the rustic, cosy log cabin vibe in your bedroom.

Dark Autumn Colour Palette

This is a unique colour scheme that combines two of the most popular colours for autumn. Deep red is a rich and earthy colour that’s perfect for creating a cosy space, while navy blue creates contrast and emulates the starry night sky. This colour scheme is perfect for creating an eclectic and stylish bedroom.

How to Get Your Bedroom Autumn Ready

So now that we’ve looked at some autumn colour scheme ideas, it’s time to talk about how to decorate your space and make it feel really cosy.

Add some pops of Autumn colour

If you want to add a bit of fun to your autumn bedroom decor, then why not add some pops of colour? You could paint one wall a deep red or orange, or use colourful bedding and curtains.

Choosing an upholstered bed in a rich, bold colour is a great way to add colour to your space without re-painting the walls. Bedstar has some great options to choose from, like this stunning two-season divan bed. It’s perfect for creating a cosy bedroom retreat in the cooler months!

Use natural materials

Another great way to create an autumnal feel in your bedroom is to use natural materials. This could include using wood or wicker for your furniture or bed frame, or adding cushions and throws made from wool or cashmere. These materials will help to add a touch of luxury to your space and make it feel extra cosy.

Bring the outside in

One of the best ways to bring the feeling of autumn into your bedroom is to simply bring the outside in. This could be done by adding some potted plants in rich colours like a Poinsettia, hanging some fairy lights that twinkle like stars, or placing a vase of beautiful dried flowers on your bedside table. These simple touches will help to create a space that feels connected to nature, which is ideal for creating a calming bedroom.

Layer your lighting

Another great way to create a cosy atmosphere in your bedroom is to layer your lighting. This means having a mix of different light sources, such as lamps, fairy lights, and candles. This will help to create a warm and inviting space that is perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Bring in Autumn Scents

One of the best ways to get into the autumn spirit is to bring in some seasonal scents. Some great choices for autumn scents include pumpkin, cinnamon, and cloves. You can do this with scented candles, room sprays, or wax melts. These scents will help to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your bedroom that is perfect for cosy nights at home.

Final Thoughts on Autumn Colour Schemes

These are just a few ideas for creating an autumnal feel in your bedroom. By using earthy colours, natural materials, and seasonal accents, you can easily transform your space into a cosy haven that is perfect for relaxation. What are your favourite ways to decorate your home for Autumn?
